CATSA’s summer travel packing tips

June 27, 2007

The Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) has issued the following packing tips for air travel during the summer season.

  • Bottled water and other beverages are not permitted through the pre-board screening checkpoint. Drinks are available in the secure area, past the checkpoint.
  • Sunscreen and insect repellent should be packed in your checked baggage. There is a limit of one container of insect repellent per passenger.
  • Flammable camping items such as gas containers for grills and strike-anywhere wooden matches are not allowed in carry-on or checked baggage.
  • Pocket knives, scissors, fishing hooks and other sharp objects must be packed in checked baggage.
  • Toy guns and weapons ammunition are not permitted in carry-on baggage. Leave them at home to avoid hassles.
  • Sports equipment such as golf clubs and baseball bats should be packed in your checked baggage.
  • Cameras and film can be packed in your carry-on baggage. The x-ray equipment is safe for film under 800 ISO/ASA.

Arrive early, depart on time

January 2007

Edmonton International Airport wants to help you make your flight. We're building, and growing along with the community, and seeing double-digit growth in passenger numbers. Until our parkade expansion is complete in 2008, please plan to arrive with enough time to find a parking stall and make your way to the terminal.

15 Minute Rule

Plan to arrive at the airport 15 minutes earlier than your airline recommends.

We've added 2,000 parking stalls over the past two years to accommodate our growth, and 1,000 more are under construction. If you park in Value Park, be sure to check in with the dispatch booth and we'll send a shuttle bus to pick you up and drive you to the terminal.

Edmonton International Airport - growing with you.
